Sambisari Hindu Temple
On day 6, we visited Sambisari, which is a 9th-century Hindu temple. It was discovered by a farmer who was plowing his field when he hit a rock.
The temple is thought to have been buried by an eruption of volcanic ash from the nearby Mount Merapi. You can see that the surrounding ground level is at about the same height as the top of the temple.
